Dr. Megan has made the difficult decision to step away from practice to focus on her health and be closer to her family.

While she generously offered to stay longer if needed, we’ve made the decision not to ask that of her—because just like we tell our patients, healing has to come first. Her last day at Taproot will be Thursday, July 18.

We fully support Dr. Megan in this next chapter and are so grateful for the care, warmth, and dedication she’s brought to Taproot over the past year. If and when she returns to practice—likely closer to New Braunfels—we’re happy to pass along her new clinic information to anyone who’d like to stay in touch. Just let us know, and we’ll keep your name on the list.

What happens next?

We’ve reviewed everyone’s schedules and made a plan to ensure your care continues smoothly:

  • Dr. Kierstn will begin seeing patients on Fridays starting July 25 to help cover Dr. Megan’s hours.

  • Dr. Hannah will continue with her regular schedule, which is Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.

  • We are actively searching for another doctor to join our team. Even if we find someone quickly, they’ll need 2–4 weeks of hands-on training before treating patients to ensure they provide care the Taproot way.

If you’ve been receiving TRT (Torque Release Technique) from Dr. Megan, we recommend seeing Dr. Hannah, who is trained in McTimoney Technique—a similarly gentle, low-force adjusting style performed by hand rather than with an instrument.

For those receiving bioenergetic scans: We’ll evaluate whether Dr. Kierstn and Dr. Hannah can take over these visits. If needed, I may step in temporarily for those.

Will I be coming back now that Dr. Megan is leaving?

The short answer is—not right now.

Some of you already know the story: I injured my shoulder back in April and had been making progress, but after a recent orthopedic evaluation, things worsened significantly. Recovery has been slow, and I’m still uncertain if I’ll be able to return to patient care.

I’ll share more in a future post—or if something changes—but for now, please know I’m still leading the clinic, supporting your doctors and team, and actively working to find the right doctor to join Taproot.

A Message From Dr. Megan:

Dear Taproot Family,

Dr. Megan here. I wanted to take the time and share some personal news. It’s with a full heart and deep gratitude that I share that I will be stepping away from Taproot Chiropractic and Wellness as I move into the next chapter of my life. I will be taking some time to work on my own health and be closer to my family. This has not been an easy decision, as serving this community has truly been one of the greatest honors of my life.

From day one, Taproot has been more than a workplace—it has been a place where I’ve had the privilege of practicing with heart, building real connections, and growing alongside some of the most inspiring patients and team members I’ve ever known. Each of you has trusted me with your health, your healing journey, and often your stories. For that, I am profoundly thankful.

The core values that make Taproot so special—practicing with heart, creating community, integrity, dependability, growth mindset, flexibility, and teamwork—will continue to guide the care you receive. I have the utmost confidence in the amazing team here. You are truly in the best hands, and the care, compassion, and commitment you’ve come to expect will remain unwavering.

As for me, it’s time to explore what comes next and lean into the unknown with the same mindset I’ve always encouraged in you—one of curiosity, growth, and trust in the process. While I may be stepping away from Taproot, the lessons, memories, and relationships I’ve built here will always stay with me.

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your journey. It’s been one of the greatest gifts of my life.

With gratitude and love,

Dr. Megan McElroy

We’ll miss Dr. Megan and wish her continued health and wellness. We’re confident in the care our current team will continue to provide.

As always, thank you for trusting us with your health.

Warmly,

Dr. Angie

Dr. Megan, You filled in a couple of times and realigned me perfectly, which I genuinely appreciated but never really got to know you. But always looked forward to seeing your smiling face when I was in Taproot. Wish you all the best in the next chapter of your life!
