If you’re looking for a chiropractor in Bulverde, you probably have questions. This FAQ covers what we do at Taproot Chiropractic & Wellness, what we help with, and what to expect—without the guesswork.
What conditions do you treat?
We help patients with a wide range of neuromusculoskeletal concerns, including:
Back pain, neck pain, and sciatica
Headaches and tension-related pain
Sports injuries and repetitive strain
Disc-related pain (including bulges and herniations)
Joint pain and mobility restrictions
Muscle tightness, posture strain, and movement dysfunction
Chronic pain patterns and recurring flare-ups
Hypermobility-related pain, instability, and recurring flare-ups
We focus on improving how the body moves and functions—not just temporarily reducing symptoms.
Do you help with sports injuries?
Yes. We regularly treat young athletes, adult athletes, and active people who want to recover well and stay in the game.
Our doctors have served as team doctors for travel sports teams, so we understand what athletes are up against—not just in competition, but in the recovery process.
One of our goals is to help athletes miss as little time as possible, unless the injury truly requires rest. We know how important it is to get back into the game safely, especially when you’re a high-level athlete and every practice, game, and season matters.
Sports-related issues we commonly see include:
hip tightness and mobility restrictions
shoulder injuries
knee pain
ankle and foot issues
overuse injuries, pulled muscles, and strain/sprain injuries
back and neck injuries
"knots" in muscles or muscle cramping
recurring “same spot” pain that keeps coming back
knee, elbow, wrist, and extremity injury
Sports chiropractic care often works best when it includes more than adjustments—so we frequently combine chiropractic with soft tissue work, dry needling, and rehab-style movement strategies.
Do you help with disc issues?
Yes. Disc-related pain is one of the most common reasons people seek chiropractic care.
We often help patients dealing with:
disc bulges
disc herniations
radiating pain into the arms or legs
numbness, tingling, or nerve irritation
Depending on your symptoms, your care plan may include chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy, decompression, laser therapy, and home recommendations.
If we believe imaging is needed, we will refer you for it. We are happy to cotreat with your ortho or physical therapist if desired.
Do you work with hypermobile patients (EDS / joint hypermobility)?
Yes. Taproot regularly works with hypermobile patients, including people with joint hypermobility and Ehlers-Danlos–type presentations.
Hypermobility often requires a different chiropractic approach than standard joint pain. Our goal is not to “loosen” what’s already unstable—it’s to improve stability, reduce flare-ups, support nervous system regulation, and help the body hold changes safely.
If you know you’re hypermobile (or suspect you are), please tell our front desk when scheduling so we can match you with the best doctor and appointment type for your needs.
What services do you offer besides adjustments?
Taproot is known for being more comprehensive than the average chiropractic office.
Depending on your case, we may include:
Soft tissue therapy
Dry needling
Laser therapy
Decompression therapy
PEMF therapy
Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS)
Movement-based rehab strategies
These therapies help improve outcomes and help your body hold changes longer. Check out all our therapies on our Services and Prices page.
Is chiropractic safe during pregnancy?
Yes. Prenatal chiropractic is commonly used to support comfort, mobility, and pelvic balance during pregnancy.
We use pregnancy-specific techniques like Webster Technique, and we tailor care to your trimester and needs. If you have a high-risk pregnancy or complications, we will coordinate with you or your medical provider to give you the safest, most effective care.
Why would a child need chiropractic care?
Kids go through constant physical change—growth spurts, falls, sports, heavy backpacks, and lots of sitting at school.
Parents often bring children in for:
posture issues
sports-related injuries
frequent falls or “always getting hurt”
mobility restrictions
headaches, migraines, or tension patterns
general movement and nervous system support
cranial issues like flat spots or plagiocephaly
torticollis in infants
colic in infants
not meeting milestones like sitting, crawling, or standing
Pediatric chiropractic care is gentle, age-appropriate, and focused on function.
Do you treat kids and families?
Yes. We love caring for families, and our care is always age-appropriate and gentle.
We also offer family-friendly scheduling options for families who want consistent care in a way that’s manageable and realistic.
Do you take insurance?
Taproot Chiropractic & Wellness is an out-of-network practice. This allows us to provide thorough care without being limited by insurance rules.
If you have out-of-network benefits, we can provide a detailed receipt you may be able to submit for reimbursement.
Medicare note: We are Non-Participating Medicare providers by law. If you are a Medicare patient, we’re happy to explain your options and what Medicare does and does not cover.
How much does chiropractic care cost?
Pricing is based on the care plan recommended for your specific needs.
Some patients only need chiropractic adjustments, while others benefit from supportive therapies (like decompression, laser, or dry needling) that may require multiple sessions.
We always have an updated price list on our Services and Pricing webpage.
How long does it take chiropractic care to work?
Some patients feel relief within a few visits, while others need longer treatment plans to see consistent improvement.
How fast you improve depends on:
how long the problem has been present
the severity of the initial injury
your activity level and stress load
whether nerves and muscles are damaged
how well your body holds changes
Our goal is to help you feel better as quickly as possible, then move you to a wellness plan where long-term changes are made.
How often will I need to come in?
Your schedule depends on your condition and your goals.
Many patients start with a short, focused phase of care to:
reduce inflammation and irritation
correct movement dysfunction
change muscle memory and compensation patterns
As things stabilize, frequency usually decreases. 99% of patients choose ongoing wellness care (often monthly) to stay mobile, prevent flare-ups, and support long-term movement health.
What should I expect at my first visit?
Your first visit includes:
a detailed history
a full exam
treatment the same day (as long as no red flags are found)
We’ll explain what we’re seeing, what we think is going on, and give you an idea of what to expect for your treatment plan.
Your second visit is typically when we go over your recommended care plan in more detail.
If we believe you need imaging or help from another type of provider, we will refer you out and help you take the next step. We pride ourselves on creating close connections within the local medical community so you can quickly get the care you need.
How do I know if Taproot is the right chiropractor in Bulverde for me?
Taproot is a great fit if you want care that is thorough, personalized, and focused on results.
We are absolutely focused on helping you get out of pain as quickly as possible—but we also care about why the problem started in the first place, so it doesn’t keep coming back.
You’ll likely feel at home here if:
you want a plan that addresses movement dysfunction and muscle memory, not just symptoms

you want a clinic that can combine chiropractic with soft tissue therapy, dry needling, laser, decompression, and rehab-style movement to help you hold your adjustments quicker and longer
you’re an athlete (or parent of an athlete) and want a team that understands performance and recovery—our doctors have served as team doctors for travel sports teams
you’re hypermobile (or suspect you are) and need a clinic that knows how to work with stability, flare-ups, and nervous system stress
you appreciate a clinic that will refer out for imaging or additional testing when needed, instead of guessing
